Monday Announcements

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Here is a couple of things for the week:

  • weekly sight words: black, our, went, be, ride
  • weekly word family: ‘ig’ word family
  • Today, Dr. Allison came in and spoke to our class about dental health and sent care package including a toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste.  Happy brushing!
  • I am once again needing to take my computer in to the shop to be fixed so my online access is somewhat limited while it is being fixed.  You may notice that my email and blog responses are less frequent during this time.  I appreciate your patience as I try and resolve these issues.

Monday Announcements

I hope you all had a lovely long weekend!  Here are a few things for the week:

  • sight words: do, like, who, will, he
  • word family: “ip” family–here is the link to the story
  • A Personal and Social Growth rubric went home with your child today as well as a note explaining a bit about it as well as some information for conferences.  Please bring the rubric to the conference so we can discuss some of your child’s area of success as well as some areas that we can work on over the next few months.  Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions or concerns.
  • I am looking forward to meeting with all of you!

Lunch Notice Going Home Today

I will be sending home a notice today regarding upcoming lunches hosted by the HSCC.  All payment happens online.  All of the information you need is on the handout.  In addition, we are looking for parent volunteers to assist with those lunches.  If you are able to help, please email me directly.

Monday Announcements–Round 2

This afternoon, the class will be going down to the library to take a look at the Book Fair.  It is too hard to coordinate money with these little ones but if you would like to come in and purchase books the library is open to parents after school today and tomorrow until 4:30 and Tuesday and Wednesday mornings until at 8:15.  It is also open to parents over the lunch hour.

Remembrance Day Assembly

Next Wednesday, the Grade 1 students will be performing the following poem and song at our assembly.  Please practice with them at home as we will be performing from memory.  Thanks!

Here is the poem:

Poppy we are but children small,

We are too little to do it all.

Children you may do your part,

Love eachother is how you start

Play without fighting,

Share your games and toys.

Be kind and thoughtful,

To all girls and boys.

And the song is to the tune of Frere Jacques:

See the poppies, see the poppies

Oh so red, oh so red

Growing on the hillside, growing on the hillside

Soldiers lay dead, soldiers lay dead.

We remember, we remember

On this day, on this day

Soldiers on the hillside, soldiers on the hillside

Far away, far away
